Overall

Now that most of you have finished reading the book Flipped, I would like you to think about the book overall. Here are some questions you can think about:
Did you enjoy reading it? What parts did you struggle on? Which parts stood out to you? What did you learn? What was the authors message? Who was your favorite and least favorite character? Would you recommend it to a friend? Out of 10, what number would this book be? And WHY!

I personally think this book would be either 8 or 9 out of 10 because it is a GREAT book and I really enjoyed reading it. Also of course I'd recommend it to a friend, or anybody, since It's such a great book!!!!!!

PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I think the thesis statement is "don't judge a book by its cover". This is because in the story all of the characters had a certain perseption on each other but never truly got to learn who that person is. In the story at the beggining Bryce says "I always wished that Juli Baker leaved me alone." because Juli was acting really creepy and was scaring Bryce but he started to learn during the story who Juli really was. Another example of the thesis statement in the book is when Juli looked at Bryce's looks rather then his personality so the looks are like the cover in the thesis statement. My last example that relates to the thesis statement is between Bryce's mom and dad. the mom thought that the dad was a genuine and sweet guy but she learns that he is a very judgemental person in the situation with Juli's uncle being mentaly challenged.I realize that everybody can pretend to be something they aren't and this story shows that these people's images that are being potrayed aren't who they actually are so getting to know some one is what they should all do and they shouldn't jump to con clusions about someone that they have never really talked to.

Sorry that I only answered one Question.

  2. No problem.
I certanly agree with you Ellen, expecialy how Bryce's mom thought that his dad was a really genuine and sweet guy at first and EVEN FELT SORRY FOR JULI'S MOM BECAUSE SHE MARRIED JULI'S DAD!!!
I would totally disagree with Mrs Loski since Mr Loski is selfish, mean, and always picks on the Bakers.

  4. I loved the ending because Juli is upset at Bryce and then Bryce plants a sycamore tree in her yard and then Juli forgives him.

  5. I think Juli could be my friend because i think that she is very open minded and that she is understanding. I didn't choose Bryce because i think that he is rude because he throws out the eggs and he doesn't even have the evidence that they actually have salmonella.

  6. I also LOVED the ending because Bryce finally proves himself to be a kind person. He planted the sycamore tree in Juli's front yard and in the story it says "A tree? He's planting a tree?" and later on the page it also says"I could tell from the shape of the leaves, from the texture of the trunk. This was a sycamore tree." which proves that Bryce payed attention to what Juli cared about and that he cared for her. If Juli hadn't cared about the tree so much Bryce might not have been able to prove himself so that part if it wasn't there would effect the entire story. I realized that the entire story was trying to show us not to "judge a book by its cover" because if you do you will never really know who a person is.

    P.S. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
